Job Interview Coaching

The interviewing process can require a job applicant to demonstrate a great deal of patience, professionalism, and preparation. In fact, the process can require so much patience and preparation in some cases that some applicants may find that the interviewing process is simply overwhelming. In these cases, a job applicant must find a way to prepare for an interview without failing under the stress involved and one of the best ways for an individual to do this is to receive some job interview coaching. However, it is important to note that there are several different types of coaching that an individual may receive and each type has its own distinct advantages and disadvantages.

The first type of coaching that an individual may receive is professional coaching. Professional coaching refers to a type of coaching in which a professional job coach, a career counselor, or a job interview coaching service helps an individual to prepare for the interview process. This type of coaching typically focuses on helping an individual understand the basic format of an interview so it can be very helpful for an individual that is just entering the workforce for the first time. However, it is important to note that professional coaching can be expensive in some cases and it is not very useful for an individual that has already had a number of different positions with a number of different employers.

The second type of job interview coaching that an individual may receive is peer coaching. Peer coaching refers to a type of coaching in which an applicant discusses his or her interviewing answers and strategies with a friend so the friend can help the applicant identify some of the problems with his or her strategy. This type of coaching focuses on helping an individual to identify the interviewing skills that the individual needs to improve. As a result, it can be very helpful for an individual that is familiar with the interviewing process, but it is typically less helpful for an individual that has no idea where to start. The third and final type of job interview coaching that an individual may receive is self coaching. Self coaching refers to a type of coaching in which an applicant tries to identify the areas in which he or she is weak without outside help. This type of coaching can be very effective for an individual that is familiar with the interviewing process, but it can be extremely difficult for an individual that is new to interviewing.
